Job Description

Gpac is partnered with a well-established energy and power generation organization east of Billings, Montana that is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to support engineering, maintenance, and capital projects at a large-scale operating facility. This role offers exposure to plant operations, cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on engineering work supporting critical infrastructure.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in chemistry and water treatment within a power plant or municipal/government utility environment and is comfortable operating in a hands-on, technically focused leadership role.

Position Overview

The Senior Chemical Engineer provides technical assistance to engineering teams in the development of specifications, estimates, outage reports, and engineering plans of moderate complexity. The role supports both maintenance and capital projects and contributes to safe, reliable, and cost-effective plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering teams with specifications, cost estimates, store orders, and project scope development
  • Lead and manage chemistry and water treatment programs to ensure regulatory compliance and system reliability
  • Provide technical guidance related to plant chemistry, water systems, and treatment processes
  • Support safe, efficient operations aligned with industry and environmental standards
  • Develop engineering plans and layouts consistent with business and operational goals
  • Research and review drawings, codes, specifications, equipment data, and manufacturer information
  • Assist with engineering investigations, evaluations, and equipment performance analysis
  • Act as a liaison with drafting personnel on field revisions and minor engineering changes
  • Analyze and manipulate data to prepare calculations, reports, and graphical presentations
  • Support project management activities for maintenance and capital projects
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to coordinate engineering plans and execution
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and recommend equipment and service purchases
  • Review vendor and manufacturer drawings for accuracy and specification compliance
  • Conduct site visits to gather field data and collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or Professional Engineer (PE) license in an applicable discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of related engineering experience
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards
